This yellow cultivar of the popular oriental Thuja is a very new introduction.
Although its name is something of a tongue-twister this neat conifer deserves to be well-known not least for its alluring shade of yellowish - green, a vibrant yellow emerald, which makes it such a gem. Yellow tints appear on flushes of new growth in the spring. It grows very slowly to 2.5 metres (8ft) with a neat, narrowly pyramidal shape formed by dense, tactile foliage. It can be trimmed lightly to shape more formally and can be grown close together in a line to act as a fragmented screen or to mark a boundary.
